PSG want to renew the contracts of Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Édinson Cavani

According to L'Équipe, French champions Paris Saint-Germain are working to extend the contracts of Brazilian defenders Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.
With the end of the year approaching, Paris Saint-Germain began their planning for the second half of the season and have set some objectives. The priority at the moment, for example, is the contract renewal of three players: Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Édinson Cavani. The information is from French newspaper L'Équipe. The most urgent case is that of club captain Thiago Silva, whose contract ends at the end of next July. According to the report, the Brazilian national team defender is expected to extend his bond until 2019. Marquinhos' contract runs until June 2019, but PSG plans to renew the deal to increase the release clause and resist the interest of other teams on the player. Marquinhos, who was successful in the Rio Olympic Games with Brazil, is a regular starter for PSG and the Seleção. Cavani, who's now the main name in PSG's attack after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimović, has scored 15 goals this season. Talks regarding a renewal have been held since April, but little progress has been made so far. The current bond ends in June 2018.
Paris Saint-Germain returns to the field on Wednesday for the UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Premier League side Arsenal.

Agent: ‘Thiago Silva’s Milan return possible, he may not extend PSG deal’

PSG centre-back Thiago Silva has earned his first Brazil national team call up in more than one year and with his contract expiring in 2017, many top clubs hope to sign him as a free agent at the end of the current campaign.

Our reporter Federico Albrizio has exclusively interviewed the player’s agent Paulo Toniettoasking him his clinet’s plans for the future.

“He [Thiago Silva] is very happy for Brazil call up. That was one of his objectives and I think he deserves it.”

“Contract talks with PSG have been put on hold. We are going to evaluate the future alongside the club, but if PSG fail to qualify for Champions League this season, we are not going to sign a new contract, that’s for sure.”

“There are many clubs interested in signing Thiago Silva.”

“He’s in love with AC Milan. He loves the club and the city. We’ve had no contact with the Italian club and Thiago Silva is still under contract with PSG, but a return to AC Milan could be possible if we don’t sign a new contract. The rossoneri have good chances to qualify for the Champions League.”

PSG's Jese plays down Thiago Silva clash, wants to help fill Zlatan void

Jese
Paris Saint-Germain new-boy Jese Rodriguez has played down a clash with new teammate Thiago Silva at the International Champions Cup over the summer.
Jese, 23, played in Real Madrid's 3-1 defeat to PSG in the United States and was the victim of a wild tackle from captain Thiago Silva, which resulted in a hip injury for the Brazilian defender.
"I have spoken with Thiago Silva since his injury," he told a news conference as he was unveiled at PSG. "We exchanged messages. He is happy I am here."
The former Spain under-21 international signed a five-year contract at Parc des Princes, tying him to the French champions until 2021 after Les Parisiens paid a fee reported to be around €25 million for his signature to make him their fifth summer signing.
"I'm very happy to join PSG," Jese said at his unveiling. "I come here with the goal of improving. I'm joining a great team and a great club, with fantastic players. We want to win as many titles as possible.
"I watched the club's most recent match, the Trophee des Champions. The team is very strong and gets forward quickly. That's the kind of football I like to play. I can't wait to meet up with my teammates."
Jese, who hails from Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, left Real after almost 10 years at the Bernabeu and admitted that it was hard to leave the club but that the time had come for a change.
"After 10 years with Real Madrid, I wanted to try something new and Paris Saint-Germain gave me the opportunity to join a huge club," he explained. "I spoke a lot with Zinedine Zidane and he filled me with confidence. Thank you to him, to Florentino Perez and to my former teammates.
"I will try to learn French as quickly as I can. PSG has a wonderful history, with many titles; it's a great club and a united team. We want to play for everything and win everything. We hope to do well in the UEFA Champions League."
The forward added that he alone would not be enough to fill the void left by the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United. However, he stressed his versatility in attack and the importance of the team playing for each other and not one individual -- a key feature under Emery so far.
"I can play in all four positions in attack," he said. "I'm versatile and can play on the left or the right or in the middle -- but I will play where the coach tells me to. I'm polyvalent.
"Zlatan is a great player. I want to progress and improve so that I can help my new teammates to compensate for his loss."
The Spaniard also admitted that new manager Unai Emery, PSG president and CEO, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and director of football, Patrick Kluivert, had made a strong case for him to move to Paris.
"A lot of Spanish and English clubs were interested in me," Jese said. "But I'm happy to have joined PSG. I think that the presence of Unai, as well as the conversations I had with the president and Patrick Kluivert, influenced my decision."
PSG kick the new Ligue 1 season off away at SC Bastia on Friday night, though Jese might not be ready to be part of the squad for the trip to Corsica.

Euro 2016: Italy exacts long-awaited revenge, ousts defending champ Spain

Italy had to wait four years for payback, but its Euro demons have been exorcised following a 2-0 victory vs. defending champion Spain on Monday.
Spain defeated Italy at Euro 2008, as well as 4-0 in the 2012 final, but this time Spain had no answer to Antonio Conte's men, who recorded a deserved victory.
Defender Giorgio Chiellini tapped in Italy's opener in the first half and only an impressive goalkeeping performance from David de Gea kept Vicente del Bosque's men in with a chance.
Alvaro Morata headed straight at Gianluigi Buffon as Spain looked to keep alive its hopes of a record third consecutive title, but wave after wave of Spain attacks crashed against the rock-solid Italian defense.
Buffon made a wondrous save to deny Gerard Pique in the last minute of normal time and Graziano Pelle struck the final blow in stoppage time as Italy's slick counter-attack claimed another victim.
After beating Spain at a major competition for the first time since 1994, the prize for the Azzurri is a quarterfinal matchup Saturday in Bordeaux against world champion Germany, which they beat en route to the final four years ago.
Italy was totally dominant in the first half, with De Gea getting down sharply early on to push away Pelle's accurate header from 8 yards.
A few moments later, De Gea superbly tipped an Emanuele Giaccherini overhead kick onto the post having not realized the playmaker had been penalized for a foul as he attempted to shoot.
Sergio Ramos had a penalty claim denied after tangling with Chiellini, but Italy continued to look the more likely and Marco Parolo headed just wide.
Italy got the breakthrough in the 33rd minute after Ramos had fouled Pelle just outside the area. Eder's free-kick was parried by De Gea and then kept alive by Giaccherini, allowing Chiellini to prod home from close range.
Just before halftime, Giaccherini cut inside from the left and shot toward the top corner to force a magnificent fingertip save from De Gea that kept Spain in the match.
Del Bosque brought on Aritz Aduriz for Nolito at the break, although it was Morata who spurned a glorious chance to equalize — heading straight at Buffon from 6 yards after Cesc Fabregas' delivery.
Italy lost Daniele De Rossi to injury, but it should have killed the game off when Pelle's flick sent Eder racing through on goal, only for De Gea to stand tall and deny the Inter striker.
Spain got better as the match progressed, with David Silva curling wide and Ramos off-target with a header as Italy began to sit back, while Buffon began to have an influence, keeping out Andres Iniesta and Pique from outside the penalty area.
Thiago Motta received a booking that will keep him out of the Germany game for slapping Sergio Busquets in the face, before Buffon made his most vital save — brilliantly keeping out another Pique effort from close range.
Italy sealed a famous triumph on the break when a cross from substitute Matteo Darmian deflected into the path of Pelle, who volleyed home to send Conte and the Azzurri faithful wild.
Key Opta stats:
- Italy ended a run of five international meetings against Spain without a win (L2 D3) and defeated Spain for the first time since August 2011.
- Spain has lost four of its last seven games (W3 D0 L4) at major international finals tournaments — this after going the previous 12 unbeaten (W10 D2 L0).
- Spain lost a European Championship finals match by a margin of 2+ goals for the first time since 1988 (0-2 v West Germany).
- Three of Italy’s five goals at Euro 2016 have come in the 88th minute or later, including both of Graziano Pelle’s.
- Giorgio Chiellini’s goal was the first Spain conceded in the knockout stages of a major international tournament since 2006 (v France) – 10 years ago.
- Chiellini has scored three goals for Italy under Antonio Conte — only Graziano Pelle (7) and Antonio Candreva (4) have more.

United target Thiago Silva and James Rodriguez rules out move - reports

Rafael gets stuck in against Thiago Silva

Manchester United look set for a busy summer of transfer activity - and here's your daily round-up of gossip.

Manchester United are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva as their search for a top-class centre-back continues.
Silva is regarded as one of the finest defenders in the game and his agent, Paulo Tonietto, has refused to rule out the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.
Tonietto said: “The future of Thiago Silva? He still has a two-year contract at PSG.
“Join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United? I have no idea. Not at the moment.”
Silva's team-mate Marquinhos and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane are also on United's list of centre-back targets as they look to reshape their squad after a disappointing season.
Another player thought to be interesting United is Real Madrid's James Rodriguez – but the Colombian has stated he wants to remain with the Champions League winners next season.
The 24-year-old has found it difficult to get regular games at Real since Zinedine Zidane took over earlier in the year – but he says he is happy to remain in the Spanish capital for now.
He said: "In football you never know but I want to continue here and my idea is to have many more years with the club.
"I am happy here. All the people close to me are happy too. It's the ideal club and I want to be here."
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has reportedly signed new bumper deal after he scored eight goals in 18 appearances for the club last season.
According to the Telegraph, the 18-year-old, who became the youngest England debutant to score a goal on Friday, has put pen to paper on a long-term £20,000-a-week deal.

Thiago Silva: Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic should snub Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea

THIAGO SILVA has pleaded with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to stay with him at Paris St-Germain.
Ibrahimovic looks set to leave PSG when his contract expires in the summer.
The Swedish superstar has been linked with a big-money move to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and even West Ham all understood to be interested.
But Silva believes the 34-year-old would be better off staying put, saying a move to England would be a step down for his mate.
“He is my good friend, but also at 34 he is playing the best football of his career," said Silva.
"He is one of the best in the world, he is unique, there is not another player like him.
“Of course I want him to stay at PSG, I cannot imagine us without him.
"I know he has offers from England - and it is a big league - but I don’t think there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment.
"For me it would be a step down in quality for him.”

Thiago Silva asked Barça's Neymar to sign for Paris Saint-Germain

Thiago Silva has admitted he asked Neymar to come to Paris Saint-Germain, a possibility which the Barcelona star did not reject outright.
The Brazilian duo, who are team-mates at international level, are considered the leaders of their national team in their respective positions and the PSG defender has revealed a conversation he had with Neymar at the Ballon d’Or last month.
“I said to him: ‘Come to play in Paris with me,’” the defender revealed. “He laughed a little, but he didn’t react. He said: ‘Let’s see what happens, we’ll keep going like this and at the end of the season you’ll know what I do.”
When asked whether he would prefer to sign Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo for the French champions, Thiago Silva went for the younger option.
“It's a difficult choice,” he admitted. “Can I take both? Seriously, though, they are two world class players. Cristiano has a bit more experience than Neymar, but Neymar is 24 and is already at the top.
“I think that next year or maybe the year after he will be the best player in the world if [Lionel] Messi gives way. I’m like his older brother because I’m Brazilian. With Cristiano, who is Portuguese, it’s a little different, even though he speaks the same language.”

PSG reveal Aurier punishment for calling Blanc a 'faggot'

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that right-back Serge Aurier will train with the B team until March 20 as a punishment for his comments against Laurent Blanc and some of his team-mates.

During this time, PSG will play six games, including the decisive second leg of their round-of-16 Champions League tie with Chelsea. The Ivorian defender has also agreed to lead indicatives in co-operation with the club’s Foundation and academy, a statement said.
Aurier has been away from the first team since February 13 as part of a suspension for calling Blanc a ‘faggot’ as well as making other comments during a question and answer session on a social media site.
PSG have shown their desire for Aurier to return soon and “celebrate a fourth consecutive league title with his team-mates and the fans” of the team, while also regaining the coaching staff and the squad’s confidence.
Some people, though, felt Aurier could even have been sacked for his actions, considering the serious nature of his attack on his manager.
As well as the ‘faggot’ comment, the 23-year-old also made negative remarks about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria and Salvatore Sirigu.
The player has apologised to his team-mates and has received support from, among others, Blaise Matuidi, a personal friend of the Ivorian and one of the heavyweights in the PSG dressing room.
“He is my friend and he’s a friend of the whole dressing room. Everyone appreciates him. We know he’s committed an error, it’s a human error, he has apologised (…) We need him on and off the pitch,” Matuidi said after the recent win over Rennes.
Blanc confessed that the whole incident had gone down very badly with him. He said: “I committed myself to bring him to Paris, so to see what I saw (...) that’s the thanks I get? It’s pitiful.”
It now remains to be seen how Aurier will be received when he returns to the dressing room by the other big characters, such as Ibrahimovic, Di Maria and Brazil international Thiago Silva.
